How do I volunteer?

Irish Aid works closely with Comhlámh, the Irish Association of Development Workers and Volunteers, to promote responsible and responsive international volunteering. We want to help make a difference to the lives of people in some of the world’s poorest communities by ensuring that there are more opportunities for Irish people who wish to share their skills in response to demands from partners in the developing world.

#VolOps by Comhlámh is the one-stop portal for both prospective volunteers and volunteering sending agencies for volunteering opportunities from Ireland.

There are important considerations that prospective volunteers need to consider before volunteering overseas. Irish Aid recommends that you consult the Comhlámh website for a list of responsible Volunteer Sending Agencies which you can contact directly. Comhlámh also holds workshops on volunteering options which are very helpful in looking at the range of available opportunities.

Dóchas weekly Wednesday News also advertises volunteer vacancies provided by NGOs and missionary organisations, many of which are funded by Irish Aid for their development work.
