What's happening at the Irish Aid Centre?6/6/13
Open since 2008, the Irish Aid Volunteering and Information Centre on O’Connell Street in Dublin provides information on volunteering and other development related topics, delivers workshops on development for primary, secondary and third-level students and offers rooms for events hosted by NGOs. In addition, the Centre regularly hosts exhibitions of paintings and photographs which are connected to development and volunteering.
Our upcoming events for June include a variety of volunteering information and training events hosted by NGOs, a photo exhibition, a creative writing workshop for returned development workers and a Family Fun Day on Sat. 29th June For further information please follow this link to the events section of our website.
Our summer programme for primary schools has also begun. The 90 minute workshops are full of activities, games and music and aim to explore the links between the lives of people in Ireland and the lives of people in other parts of the world. The workshops are highly participative, free of charge and designed to be as enjoyable as possible. If you would like to book a primary school workshop please contact Ruth Powell on 01 854 69 32.
Front of house activities at the Centre are managed by six guides and one co-ordinator from Kimmage Development Studies Centre. The diverse team grew-up in places like Uganda, Palestine, Romania, Wales, Nigeria and Drogheda and are experienced facilitators with a great deal of development and volunteering experience.
The Centre is open from 10.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday if you would like to drop-in to ask the guides a question, to view the exhibitions or just to say hello! Anyone interested in booking an event is welcome to contact Ruth Powell on 01 854 69 32. We look forward to seeing you soon.
